The Russian Rosselkhoznadzor detected residues of cadmium (heavy metal), violet crystal (carcinogen) and oxytetracycline (antibiotic) in the Chilean salmon.
Santiago, November 6th, 2019. (radiodelmar.cl) – After Russia blocked the entry of Chilean salmon due to the presence of antibiotics, heavy metals and carcinogenic chemicals, Ecoceanos Centre stated that this could generate a health alert for consumers in the United States and de European Union, but also highlights the weak health control system in Chile.
The Russian Rosselkhoznadzor detected residues of cadmium (heavy metal), violet crystal (carcinogen) and oxytetracycline (antibiotic) in the Chilean salmon. The companies responsible are the transnational companies Cermaq (owned by Mitsubishi), Multiexport, (owned by Mitsui & Co, together with Chilean investors), Nova Austral (Norwegian-North American capitals), and Ventisqueros (Germany-Chile).
Acording Juan Carlos Cárdenas, veterinarian and director of the Ecoceanos Centre, “salmon companies in Chile that insist on using illegal chemicals and abusive volumes of antimicrobials cannot be considered responsible companies, and must be sanctioned by national and international consumers. The so-called Chilean salmon, is only propaganda, marketing and public relations with the support of the repressive Chilean regime. It is striking the application of sanitary and environmental double standards by transnational salmon companies operating in Chile”
